Fall has finally arrived – although Texas may have taken its sweet time getting the memo.
October always feels like the point when someone hits the fast-forward button on the rest of the year. Between fall decorating, cabin projects, local festivals and getting ready for winter in the mountains, there’s plenty happening at Lazy Pines Cabins.

Our cabins are designed for people who like taking their dogs on vacation, with fully fenced private yards, no pet fees, big dogs welcome, multiple dogs welcome and no breed restrictions.
Here’s what’s happening around the cabins this October.

Our Second Dog-Friendly Cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma
Our newest Lazy Pines cabin in Broken Bow was originally scheduled to close in early October, but we hit a hiccup with the title work.
That means closing is being delayed approximately two to three weeks.
Frustrating? Absolutely. But these things happen, and I keep reminding myself to focus on the things I can actually control.
The delay also means our timeline for welcoming the first guests will move back. We are now expecting the new Broken Bow cabin to begin hosting guests around early December 2026.
One feature I’m especially excited about is the outdoor gazebo. It already has a fireplace, and our plans include adding a big-screen TV and hot tub to create an outdoor space guests can enjoy throughout the year.
Fall at Our Dog-Friendly Cabin in Broken Bow
I’m headed to our original Lazy Pines Broken Bow cabin to decorate for fall and tackle some routine maintenance.
A new washer and dryer is going in because the dryer is officially on its last leg. Not exactly the most glamorous cabin upgrade, but I know our cleaners will be thrilled.
Our lawn guy has also gone MIA, which means I may end up mowing. Fortunately, mowing is one maintenance job I actually enjoy.
Lazy Pines Broken Bow is located in the Hochatown and Broken Bow area of southeastern Oklahoma, convenient to Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake. For guests traveling with dogs, it also has a private fenced yard so the pups can enjoy some off-leash vacation time of their own.

What’s New at Our Dog-Friendly Cabins in East Texas
We recently spent two nights at the Lazy Pines Texas Big Cabin in the Pineywoods of East Texas near Corrigan.
Our big project this trip was installing a new photo booth and bench area. I’m hoping it becomes a favorite spot for family photos – and obviously puppy photos. If you take one while you’re visiting, please send it to me!
The pumpkins are also officially out for fall. Every year I cross my fingers and hope Texas decides not to cook them before Halloween.
On the less-fun side of cabin ownership, I spotted a dead pine tree that needs to come down, and we’re still waiting on a new water-filtration system to be installed.
A Great Spot for Fall or Holiday Family Photos
If you’re staying at the Texas cabins this fall, consider having family photos taken while you’re there.
The wooded setting in the Pineywoods of East Texas makes a beautiful backdrop for holiday-card photos, family pictures and photos with your dogs.
We recommend photographer Kellie Gann, and guests can find her information in our digital guidebook.
